About me & my blog

Welcome!

I love to write and I love connecting with people - two good reasons to start a blog...so with a little encouragement, I've decided to take the plunge and give it a go.

I hope you drop by again.

About me...

Apart from my love of cooking, gardening and photography, I have a few others…

Growing up in the wide open spaces of country Western Australia, and being surrounded by a varying succession of pets through my childhood years, it isn't any wonder I grew to love animals and carried this love into adult life.

Another of my loves emerged at an early age. Devouring books, a love of the printed word quickly developed. By the time I was eight, I had also discovered the joy of letter writing, exchanging literally hundreds of letters with pen pals through my growing up years

Story telling has long been another of my loves. A colourful imagination and the joy of sharing with others, fuels it even today. Over the years I have discovered that stories are a powerful vehicle for learning and a very helpful tool for the memory. The classroom is a great place for stories. They engage even the most hesitant learner!

Working with children for more than three decades has cultivated my passion for teaching and grown my love of children. I love their freshness and spontaneity, the way they open themselves up to new ideas and take things on board in an uncomplicated way. Their joy of living reminds me that this is the way we should all approach life. Spending time with children fills me up, and I consider myself very blessed to have a job I love so much!

My list of loves would not be complete without mentioning my family. I have a wonderful husband (the sensible one in our marriage) and three daughters - beautiful inside and out! The men in their lives are pretty good too! Lastly but certainly not least, I have four beautiful grandchildren who bring great joy to my life and to our family!

I am, among women, truly blessed!!

About my blog…

So...you may be wondering about the name "Pathway Blooms".
It has a couple of origins - my love of gardens, especially flowers, and looking at life from the perspective of it being a journey.

It seems to me, life's journey is akin to walking a pathway, and as we do, we encounter the pathway's many forms - twists and turns, straight, smooth stretches which we travel with ease, and those rough patches that try us and stretch us.

As we travel life’s winding pathway, we happen upon tiny blooms, often sown in surprising situations, tucked in the shadow of the path's edges or sometimes even springing up between rough pathway stones. If we travel in haste or gaze too far ahead, they go unnoticed.

Sown by Unseen Hands, these blooms can bless our day with colour, and shine truth on our path. If we are watchful, we won’t miss these unexpected splashes of colour.

From time to time I notice one of these tiny blooms. Often simple things and easily missed, but I hope by sharing them with you, a little colour may be splashed in your day and you may also be blessed.
